Music industry veteran, WENDY WALDMAN, graced the LAWiM stage as guest host of our Singer-Songwriter Night. She enlightened us all with her amusing anecdotes and real words of wisdom and encourgement to those in the songwriting community. But, the highlight of the evening was being witness to the heart-wrenching unplugged version of her Grammy award-winning hit, Save The Best For Last (Vanessa Williams).
President, Leanne Summers, introduced Wendy Waldman as a "critically acclaimed recording artist in her own right, as well as a writer of multi-platinum songs for other singers in every genre under the sun... pop, film, jazz, children's music, R&B, country.. you name it - she's done it! She is also a teacher, and one of the first distinguished female record producers. Since 1973, more than 150 songs, written or co-written by Wendy, have been recorded by others, including... Maria Muldaur, Robert Smith of the Cure, Linda Ronstadt, Kim Carnes, CeCe Winans, Randy Travis, Edgar Winter, Percy Sledge, Kenny Rogers, Judy Collins, Melissa Manchester, Rita Coolidge, and Bette Midler to name just a few."
