Ilene Weingard... continued
Specializing in the design of logos, branding, key art, packaging, book design and websites, I Design’s clients range from record labels including Universal Music Group, BMG, Savoy Jazz and Virgin Records to film studios such as Walt Disney, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros., along with fashion and corporate branding campaigns for new companies.
In 2007, in her role as art director and lead designer, Weingard created a 128 page catalog to showcase the work of 50 diverse, female artists, entitled, “Multiple Vantage Points: Southern California Women Artists, 1980-2006,” which opened to coincide with the March celebration of Women’s History Month at The Los Angeles Municipal Gallery in Barnsdall Park. Weingard believes that her experience as a female artist and business owner contributed to the overall success of the catalog’s design and production, which challenged her to create a clean, yet powerful look that complemented, rather than competed with, the artwork being presented. “The title Multiple Vantage Points was my inspiration from the beginning. How to capture that concept with one design and represent fifty artists on the cover and throughout the book was an incredible challenge and my background in the entertainment industry gave me the edge we needed to accomplish the task and win over the art committee.”
Supporter of women in the arts, the I Design Studio donated the design for the current LAWIM logo and letterhead design back in 2000.
