Becoming an SGA member/event coordinator gave me a chance to launch the “Here’s to the Losers” at the woman’s Club of Hollywood with Janet Fischer. Keeping busy in 2001 as a gift to the Guild, I donated food and refreshments for the main events including the Roast for Jack Segal. I brought the piano, PA system and audio engineer Roland Valentino who volunteered to do the sound.
My first workshop was with Jack Segal. It was so informative that I went on to take classes with Phil Swann, Harriet Schock and Jai Josef. In 2000, I produced and emceed the first Student SGA showcase at Highland Grounds. I also volunteered to become the SGA member Recruiter. Bringing in new, fresh and talented musicians and songwriters from various cultural background to become the “new blood” of SGA My song co-written with my musical partner Roland Valentino, was played Christmas Eve on KLOS. The song was also included I the Film Music Network Compilation CD.
In 2001, I produced and emceed the second annual SGA student showcase at the Woman’s Club of Hollywood with lots of celebrities in attendance. Mario Machado also featured Christmas Without You on his radio show for the holiday season. In 2002, I moved the SGA showcase to the Second Street Jazz Club in Little Tokyo where it was held for 3 years before we moved back to the Woman’s Club of Hollywood in 2005 where celebrities like Marty Panzer, Ray Evans, Steve Dorff John Braheny, Bob Mitchell, Dini Clarke, Jai Josef, Paul Horner and Harriett Schock would perform.
